FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY IS A PROCESS SERVER NECESSARY?

In Family Court situations, the law requires that respondents are served by someone other than the applicant. Also, litigation can create feelings of hostility between parties, so to avoid confrontation it's best to use a neutral third party for delivering sensitive legal documents.

DOES THE $70 INCLUDE MILEAGE AND TIME SPENT?

At Due Process, we don't count mileage or charge by the hour. There are no surprises or hidden fees. All that is required is that you pay upfront and provide a duplicate copy with sufficient postage in case the respondent cannot be served in person.

HOW MANY ATTEMPTS DO YOU MAKE?

Three attempts are made to serve the respondent at the address you provide. To help us serve the respondent, please be sure to provide the correct address, times of availability, and a photo if at all possible (a digital copy can be e-mailed to us).

WHY IS PAYMENT REQUIRED BEFORE SERVICE?

This high level of transparency keeps operating costs lower than other Process Servers. Because payment is required upfront for all clients, there is no need for accounts payable. This reduces the amount of paperwork required, and the savings are passed on to you.
